菅野大（すがの　だい）l フォトジャーナリスト

北海道室蘭市に生まれる。１９９５年に渡米。ワシントン州の短大を卒業後、カリフォルニア州サンノゼ州立大学に入学し報道写真を専攻。２００２年よりカリフォルニア州サンノゼ市のマーキュリー・ニュース紙にスタッフ・フォトジャーナリストとして活動中。主な特集は：カリフォルニア州児童施設で数々の向精神薬を処方されていた子供達のドキュメンタリー (Drugging Our Kids)、アメリカの終末医療を取り上げたシリーズ (The Cost of Dying series)、モン族の難民キャンプからアメリカへの移民、インドの貧困 (India's Left Behind)、低所得者の苦難、政治 (The California recall race)、移民問題。

２００８年、UPROOTEDと題したアメリカにおける低所得者のドキュメンタリーで全米エミー賞を受賞。２０１１年、違法移民の家族のドキュメンタリー TORN APART で全米エミー賞にノミネート。全米エドワード・ムロー賞を２０１４年 (MAGIC IN MOTION)と２０１５年 (Drugging Our Kids) に受賞。

取材にスチルと共にビデオや音声を取り込んだマルチメディア・リポーティングをウェブ上で展開。その他アメリカ国内の報道写真家を対象にしたマルチメディア・ワークショップに講師として参加、スタンフォード大学大学院客員講師や日本の新聞社でワークショップの指導経験あり。
